The aim of my final major project is to challange; to allow people to think, and to feel. I aim to push the boundries of the contraversial art world, as so many have done before. I wish to explore the differences between concepts, beliefs, eras and many more. I am going to achieve this through a clever technique; art manipulation. The simple idea of editing an already made, and usually highly soughted after painting or photograph, for comical or political use. This idea, yet frowned upon by so many; (being seen as defacing property and overall disrespect),

Banksy is a pseudonymous England-based graffiti artist, political activist, film director, and painter.Banksy began his career as a graffiti artist in the early 1990s, in Bristol’s graffiti gang DryBreadZ Crew. His street art and subversive epigrams combine dark humor with graffiti done in a distinctive stencelling technique. Known for his contempt for the government in labelling graffiti as vandalism; Banky’s works of political and social commentary have been featured on streets, walls, and bridges of cities throughout the world, starting in his home; the city of Bristol. In addition to his two-dimensional work, Banksy is known for his installation artwork. One of the most celebrated of these pieces, which featured a live elephant painted with a Victorian wallpaper pattern, sparked controversy among animal rights activists.
The interest in creating has been in me since a very young age, however, the real interest of art, and the appretiation of the subject truly sparked at age 13, when seeing ‘a banksy’, on the wall of the docs in Bristol. I remember thinking how unique and humorous the image was. After that, I followed him; searching for his signicture street art, attending exhibitions and buying books. The excitement of not knowing who this mysterious artist or arsonist is, has always been part of the thrill for me.
This exhibition, mainly focused on the manipulation of art work. Banksy added and edited peices on certain images to change the story and concept of mostly legendary artworks of history. Contraversal, yet fascinating and comical images filled the Museum. The raw honestly and frankness in these images in particular inspire me the most, erging me to challange, engage and entertain in contraversy just as Banksy has.
